a) Clinical examination of the gums (color, aspect, consistence, bleeding occurrence)
b) Examination of the dental plaque using a specific state of the art optical microscope. The patient can see on a screen what the dentist sees with the microscope
We collect dental plaque located under the gums (periodontal pockets), between the tooth roots and the diseased gums.
We generally collect samples around the molar teeth and around suspect teeth.
The sample collection is performed with a round tool and is pain free.
The microscopic observations help evaluate the type and stage of the disease.
The localization of bacteria and microbial communities, and their activity is a major element in diagnosing and curing periodontal diseases.

c) We analyze the occlusion and how teeth adjust in the mouth.
d) A partial or complete x-ray examination will reveal possible bone losses and a bad tooth support.
a) We will proceed to an exhaustive understanding of the situation by filling a medical form.
b) In cases where it is found justified, we will study the patient’s general eating habits, possible tobacco use, etc.
c) In the most severe cases, we will explore possible food allergies or intolerances (blood test involved).
d) We will explore the different human body systems (digestive, hormonal, immune, etc.) with an electrosommatogram (ESG) device. It’s a 2-3 minute non invasive examination, done in our practice, which detects the possible body systems’ general dysfunctions, which we will further confirm with a blood test.
